“Do not answer a fool according to his folly, Lest you also be like him. Answer a fool according to his folly, Lest he be wise in his own eyes.”
This proverb has always been one of my favorite pieces of wisdom, mainly because it shows there’s no straight jacket required in life.
I’ve heard it said before that opposites attract. Well, while that may not be an infallible truth, it’s worth noting that opposites are not always in opposition.
That we hold deferring views on a matter does not automatically mean that one person is wrong. “Sometimes, the opposite of a great truth is another great truth.” – Alfred North Whitehead
